Wake The Hell Up

                    http://youtu.be/uyAuATJXc14

What the hell is going on? How many more of our youth have to die or go to jail? What have we been teaching and telling our son's and daughters? Does being innocent matter any more? How many more people have to die at the hands of an police officer? How many more deaths do we need to count that are from our own hands? How many more have to die because of the so called stand your ground law? How the hell can one stay positive with all this negativity going on?
Our children have no respect for themselves let alone others. Facebook postings are about fire challenges, knock out challenges, condom challenges, pregnancy packs, fights and etc. When and why is the blueprint for our future?
Your daughters, my sons, our sisters, brothers, mothers and fathers are all subjected to this foolery. Reality t.v has become the thing to look up to. Females fighting over no good men. Men sharing their woman with other woman. Females get down right ignorant when a man calls them a "BITCH" but use the term loosely when describing themselves and talking to their friends. Like which one is it? Don't expect respect if you cant respect yourself first. What the hell do we stand for?
I'm tired of seeing our mothers on the news crying because they lost a child due to violence or negligence. I'm tired of seeing our youth kicked out of school for doing dumbness. Our society are attention seeking beings, that will do anything to themselves or others to be noticed.

Impatiently waiting for a change!

I Woke Up Like This, Flawless

Okay so its true, they collaborated. Both Bey and Nicki went in on their verse. They Played into the whole Solange elevator incident. But come on, what do we expect from Queen Bey? If it doesn't cause a buzz, it isn't for Yonce or Nicki. What do you think? Listen for yourselves.

Ladies Are We Just Ass and Boobs?

Hearing a good beat to a song draws me in, then I have to get into the lyrics. There have been moments when I'm like damn, why are they saying that?  It makes my skin crawl. I love music, one of my favorite things to share with my kids. But these artist are making it hard because of the explicit content. Don't get me wrong, I like Nicki but this right here isn't necessary. I came across this article on Facebook and thought  I'd share it.

Nicki is hot but I don't think she need to do this to sell records. She's very talented in her craft.

Are You A Beat Rider Or A Lyric Seeker?

                                             http://youtu.be/VRuoR--LdqQ
                                             Video Source: YouTube.com

We can get caught up with catchy hooks and banging beats. I honestly have to listen to the song in its entirety to figure out what the artist is talking about.Simply because I'm focusing on the sound. Hearing a hot beat will make you want to get up and dance or go out and party. In most cases its the sound that draws you in. But what about the LYRICS?
My sons love music just a much as I do. If its not on television, radio or coming from their friends they search for it. The other day they asked me to download "Move That Dope". The look on my face was like Not!

http://youtu.be/wHguy4xHGSg
Video Source: Youtube.com

They Couldn't understand why I said no. Given the name of the song, that was enough for me. I took it a step further and goggled the lyrics.    http://rapgenius.com/Future-move-that-dope-lyrics  I scratched my head and thought Why? These artist has so many young and Mature fans that are influenced by their music. Why Give them something to set them back? There's the ongoing debate that we as parent have control of what we let our children hear and see. This is true. One minute we are encouraging them to listen to Pharell's song "Happy". But have to hide a song like Move That Dope" that he's featured in. When I gave my boys the reason why that song will not be downloaded the first thing out their mouths was. " But I thought Pharell was good?". Can't Wait Until The Day We Do Better Because We Know Better.

Are The 90's Artist Making A Come Back?

Please say it is so, Mason Betha has a new single getting some air play entitled, "Nothing"  featuring new talent Eric Bellinger. Can't expect nothing less coming from Mase. Fun and flirty lyrics with a classic Mase video to go along. We have the pleasure of seeing his current girlfriend malaysia pargo in the video. Like I said it fun and for the women. He's not bashing women. Did Take Mr. Betha to come back and show women how we should be treated? Listen to the song below.

Before You Walk Out My Life

Being in relationships is hard work; I'm sure we can all agree to that. I'm
not an expert but I've heard, seen and experienced a lot. In some cases I wanted to smack some sense into people for what they put up with. As a little girl I figured out what I wanted and wasn't going to tolerate when I was old enough to date.
I've seen men treat woman like they were a pair of sneakers; one for
every outfit. When a pair got old, they tossed them in the back of the closet. Better yet they used them to play in. We females aren't any better. Some of us are stuck on how cute the guy is. Or on how much money he makes.

I understand the need of being attracted to someone. I will admit that
I am one to say, “Dang he's cute ". Growing up my mother would say, "get
over it. Cuteness will get you caught up, looks aren't everything". Don't get me wrong I agree.
But can we have some form of attraction? Now that I'm older I understand her
more. Females can be blind and naive.
                             http://youtu.be/hxQF3ELz6Ss
                            Video Credit: YOUTUBE.COM
Here's a scenario: you meet a guy and not even 6 months later you guys
move in together. And you wonder why y'all are having issues x amount of years later. I always tell people younger than me. Male or female don't rush love. In most cases it not even love it's lust, obsession and just plan stupid. Become friends, date, know this person in and out before you commit. Ask questions like," how many people have you been with? “How is your relationship with your parents? Its true when people say, “if he doesn't respect his mother, he won't respect you".
Make sure he or she understands that you have friends, things shouldn't change because your with him. Its all about respect. You both should know and and understand boundaries.
You may have a past that he or she may or may not know about. If you choose to share it, be prepared. Most may not know how to deal with it. What you've shared with them should never be used to insult or disrespect you later on.

Don't get into a relationship where he/she is busy trying to dictate
or change you. If you like to hang out with your girls/guys don't
stop. But make sure you give him/her time as well. It's always give
and take in a relationship.Shoot for a 50/50 kind of relationship. If you guys like to go out, take turns paying. The guy should not have to pay for everything. Show him you want to and will maintain your independence. You don't ever want to lose who you are just to please anyone. There's always room for compromise. Have fun, learn and love.
It'll make things easier. Believe, things would run a lot smoother. But love is love, if we want it we have to work through it.

I'm Not Giving Up The Goods

Finally a video to go along with the song. JHud looks amazing in her walk it out video. I know everyone likes to hear her sing her heart felt ballads but whats wrong with switching things up every now and then. The song is fun, but honestly females can learn a little something from it. Stop giving up the goods before knowing what your getting yourself into. Just because a man look good and has swag does not mean he's worth your time. Let alone get to dip his hands in the cookie jar.

We Are More Than Sports, We Are More Than Music

photo credit: The Secret Life of Bees

I love a good movie, I can sit down and watch with my sons. Whom are all  under the age 10. Especially a movie that will give them something to think about.
Dakota Fanning asked Tristan Wilds if he wanted to be a professional football player. His reply, "WHY DO WHITE PEOPLE ALWAYS THINK SPORTS IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN BE SUCCESSFUL".
But what's disturbing is that some Black people think the same way. Some believe the fasted way to become successful is by becoming a ball player or musical artist. We need to think bigger than that. There's way more to life than being a celebrity. We don't always see what comes along with the glitz and glamour.

She's Back

Have you heard Jazmine Sullivan's single featuring Meek Mill? She back with a banger. Her latest single is entitled "Dumb". You have to love this songstress. She's bold, always giving us a piece of what's on her mind. Fellas she talking to y'all once again. Her voice has been compared to Miss Lauryn Hill. Once you listen, you'll understand why? I'm not sure why real talent goes unheard.
But I'll buy a JS record any day. Listen to her single below.

What Three Songs Would You Play For Someone That is Visually Impaired?

I was asked the following question a few days ago and I'm still stuck. What three songs would I choose to play for someone who is visually impaired?

My first choice would most definitely be Michael Jackson's " Man In The Mirror". My Second would be, "Wake Up Everybody". The Harold Melvin and The Blue Note or John Legend Version. For My third choice, I'd Pick a Lauryn Hill Song. One from her Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill album. Looking at the songs I chose. I'm thinking they are a bit deep. I would like to let this person know that despite my song choice there are things we could be happy about and celebrate as well.

So what three songs would you choose?

Keep Doing the Things You Did To Get Her, If You Want To Keep Her

source:massappeal.com

A relationship can wear you the hell down if you let it. In the beginning some fellas are pulling all the stops to get a females attention. They're taking her out, cooking for her, giving her massages and showering their lady with gifts. Men are actually interested in the things females like to talk about.  Or a least it appears that way. We share the same interest, and have the same common goals. Holding hands, cuddling, kissing and foreplay didn't seem forced.

source: colorblindmag.com
Over time when everyone is comfortable things start to change. Once they have us their good, their job is done. They no longer care about going the extra mile to please their woman. So why should they continue work so hard at it? Is that, they believe females aren't going anywhere? Did she do something that caused him to slack or turn him off?  No a days females are moving on when he's no longer interested in the relationship. Who are we to blame?

Its that Time Again; New Yorkers Celebrate the 57th Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade

 source: nbclatino.com
Yes Its finally here, A day to celebrate your heritage. The Streets are shutting  down from 44th to 79th street along 5th ave; between the hours of 11 am and 6 pm. Its a sight to see the people, your people in unison dancing and cheering as the floats roll on by. Everyone singing one of our Anthems
 "QUE BONITA BANDERA"
                http://youtu.be/8-yXbQtixrQ
I remember growing up in Brooklyn NY watching everyone prepare for the festivities leading up to this day. Yep, The Puerto Rican Day Parade. I too have a since of pride being from Puerto Rican decent. That's right me and my dark brown skin and tight curly hair. We come in all shades, and sizes. This is what I love. While your enjoying the floats you glance over at the person next to you. Now look behind you and literally see a rainbow. My mother's mom was born and raised in P.R. I remember her making homemade Pasteles, I'm not sure how or why she made them at our request. Making them is such a tedious process. But worth the effort. She never said, no when we asked her to prepare a Hispanic dish. At the age that we are now, she'd still do it without hesitation.
source :jedistar.com
The sweet sounds and dance. Salsa y Merengue  was always on in the house. One our favorites was Elvis Crespo. He has hits, "suavemente, pinta me ". Just to name a few. I remember listening to El general and my grandmother saying she liked C&C Music Factory Boriqua anthem.
Over all today may be for Puerto Rican, But it also gives everyone else the opportunity to be apart of our culture through music, food, dance, and harmony.

Look at the foot work on these gentlemen. Their technique is ridiculous, watching them all glide across the floor is unbelievable. Young Savior looking and learning from the masters. I couldn't imagine being so young surrounded by all these greats. Sammy Davis Jr. an amazing legend and Gregory Hines to have as a mentor. Wow.

Smart Phones, Mans New Best Friend Side Eye; Our Worst Enemy

   Source: sandrarose.com
Smart phones we all have them, and can't seem to live without them. They have been known to disrupt a many relationships. Have you ever sent out a text message wishing you could take it back? How about mistakenly posting sexy or inappropriate pictures of yourself on one of your social network sites? Believe it or not that's light, compared to ass calling your significant other when your with someone you have no business being with.
What would you do if you got caught? There really isn't a way of getting around it. I definitely don't see a reason to lie when its clearly your voice on the receiving end. Would you lie your way out like Trey Songz did?
We do a lot with our mini computers. A bit too much, and this is coming from someone that lives with phone in her hand. I'd wake up and grab my phone just to see what I've missed. I have gotten into plenty of debates about my other appendage. It was true. I have a very bad habit, and at times deny it. I'm always doing something or talking to someone. You can really get caught up with these little trouble makers. I love to talk, it could be a small comment posted under one of my post that lead to a long drawn out conversation via social media.  .

What is the world tripping over? She looked gorgeous. We are too quick to judge. If she had on booty shorts, you'll critique that as well. She may me giving the world some skin. But it look classy. Her stylist said she wore just about everything and then she gives us this.

Let's Discuss Aaliyah's Biopic

We've all heard speculations about who's playing Aaliyah in her Biopic.
If you were holding casting calls for the movie, who would you hire? Keep in mind, she must know how to dance. And I mean dance very well.

Chris Brown Alert

Are we ready for the takeover? HE'S BACK! That's right CB was released from  jail last night. Straight from CB himself
I don't condone any form of negativity but I think that judge did him dirty. Hopefully Chris learned from his misfortunes and get his ass back in the studio. His records continued to play, a video was released and he was shown lots of
love at Summer Jam last night. Welcome home Chris.

Summer Jam 2014

So now that SUMMER JAM 2014 came and went. I can officially say. I was slightly disappointed. I'm actually being modest. I was vexed. I watched for how many hours to see my baby daddy come out
for what it seem like 20 seconds before 50 and the whole g-unit crew minus one had their reunion right before our eyes. Don't get me wrong.
They had me hyped. 50 did every hot song and some. When he brought out Loyd Banks, YaYo, and Young Buck I was confused but exited at the same damn time.
I was like oh -shit.
Where Game at? That didn't happen. He did his latest hit feat. Trey Songz and brought out Fab.
I thought it was cool to see Nas and 50 rocking together on stage. The entire QUEENS set was fiya. Nas did a few of his hits.
I swear he doesn't age he looks exactly the same as he did at 20yrs old. During his set he brought out Meek Mill
and MONTANA. Aka French Montana.
Nicki finally made it to the summer jam stage and shut shit down.
She looked hot. I'm feeling her natural look. The Grimme Nicki was out but kept it classy with a lil but of nasty.  She blessed us with Soulja Boy,
Drake and Weezy.
Let's talk about Trey Songz for a sec. He did all the jams, and sound okay. He and Ty $ did their playas anthem.
And yes I was rocking to it.

The Roots and The Lox took us back.
Bunji Garlin came out reppin for the West Indies. " we ready, we ready". I was feeling his set. He was suppose to come out earlier but had flight delays. He did his thing for Trinidad and Tobago.
Sevyn Streeter had a cute set. She got busy to Chris Brown's " She Ain't Loyal". As a matter of fact Trey, Nicki and Weezy represented Chris.
Mac Wilds, Wiz Khalifa, Jhene Aiko, Childish Gambino, August Alsina, Iggy Azelea, Chinx and Nipsy Hussle  rocked out on the festival stage earlier.
All I can say about Dj Mustard is that he had non stop hits.
Overall Summer Jam was aight. I guess we will always have high expectations when it's a Summer Jam concert.

Lauryn L Boogie Hill; Mic Check

PhotoSo the other day I told you guys about Lauryn Hill and her mini me, (daughter) Selah hitting the stage together. Lauryn Hill, we're ready for you to do a major tour? We miss your voice, your style and the knowledge you deliver.Photo There are too many critics discrediting her voice. Photo  Her flow is still there if not better. Lauryn can still move the crowd. From the videos I've come across, she still got it. There are a few dates in June to see L Boogie but not enough. We need this to happen asap. In the meantime, we'll settle for what we come across on the web, and in our playlist. Photo

L Boogie And Daughter Selah Share The Stage Together

The one and only Miss Lauryn Hill, shares stage with daughter Selah last week. When you look at Selah, you see L Boogie all over again, she's gorgeous and have enormous talent. But why shouldn't she? It's in her Genes. Here's a glimpse courtesy of  http://www.blackcelebkids.com/   http://youtu.be/6UKdlTS1HZE
